Project of the Day

I read that if you are in a funk you should do something creative every single day. Even if it is just looking at art or reading a book about art. So while I was in my "slump" I really tried to do this. I'm not in a slump any more and I'm excited about crafting again and the last few days I've been doing at least one project a day.

I refinished an old dresser that I am going to use for my scrapbook supplies. I'm redecorating every room in my house. I'm trying to learn to take better pictures. And I'm trying to make ordinary things spectacular.

I have been collecting Mystery Science Theater 3000 dvd's. My husband and I adore this old television series and I am determined to own all ten years worth of them.

I could just put them in any old cd binder but that was just too boring for me. I had an old Gateway computer that is in Pete's room now. It came with a small binder that was filled with recovery cd's. I thought it would be a great, cheap way to store my new collection. I wanted a space theme to go with the show theme but I didn't think I was going to be able to find anything in Fort Smith and I'm too impatient to wait for shipping. I decided to just use primary colors and maybe find a font online to help with decorating.

When I got to Hobby Lobby I found this!

It's Cosmo Cricket. Which I LOVE. Go check out all their stuff right now.

(hint...Terry bought a bunch of Cosmo Cricket Christmas paper for her store)

I've seen this paper packet before and I wanted it. But my son isn't really into the robot/space thing. I didn't really know what to do with it. But how perfect is it for my project!

This is the final result.

Here is the front of the binder:

DVD labels. I wanted them all to match. SO anal sometimes I am...

Last divider cover. Look at the aliens. They are an adorable font I got at some font site. It's an alien dingbat font. CUTE!!

I'm thinking this would make an adorable little boy album. Make & Take, anyone?

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown...

I ADORE ADORE ADORE Peanuts. And I have raised my kids to adore them, too. I love how excited they still get (even the 16 year old) when a Peanuts special comes on tv.

So the Great Pumpkin was on the other night and not only did it provoke an impromtu family night, it solved a huge headache inducing dilemma.

Pete has been going back and forth with his costume ideas. Bruce Lee, Indiana Jones, Biker, Old Man, Middle Aged Man (whatever that means). He was about to drive me crazy And then poof! We figured it out.

Remember how Charlie Brown tried to make his ghost costume and when he cut out his eyes out of his sheet he made a hundred holes? Then he got a rock instead of candy? Poor Charlie Brown...
But Yay us, we finally have a costume this kid can live with! I got a cheap sheet at Wal Mart and glued a bunch of black felt circles all over it. He'll carry a brown paper bag with the words, "I got a rock" on it. I downloaded a Peanuts font for this purpose. It's so cool.
I'll add pictures tomorrow.

8 Months Later, I Finally Have Something to Say....

So if you know me, you know all about my funk I was in creatively. And you are probably one of the people who warned me that if I sold all my scrapbook supplies I would regret it. Well, it wouldn't be like me to take advice so I went ahead and sold it all and it was probably the best thing I ever did for myself. It took a few months but I think I'm out of the doldrums. I relaxed and didn't think about scrapbooking at all. But eventually, ideas started coming to me again and I've been crafting again! Yay!

I made a few things for Terry's store.

I have four layouts in her store, this bottle set and a boys name album. I'll have to take picture of them to add on here.

So we have a crop at Hobby Lobby this Saturday (November 1). I haven't been to a Hobby Lobby crop in months. I was just so burnt out. So I'm really looking forward to it. Hope I see you guys there!
