Update on the Twigs. (Because I know you were on pins and needles)

Tonight we are making the kids contributions to the gifts for family. Reagan is making Peppermint Bark. We would love to get addicted to Williams and Sonoma's Peppermint Bark, which I feel is the best bark in the world. But it's a little cost prohibitive. We lucked out and found a recipe online that claims to be almost as good. Well, we tried it and we think it IS as good. We used premium chocolate and the soft peppermint that I think is so much better than that other vile stuff, so I think we did good.

We've gone through 9 bags of chocolate and it's simply a Christmas miracle that I don't weigh 300 pounds.

So I wish Christmas was over because my craft table looks like this.

I've got shelving to put up and lot of organizer bins but I don't have time to mess with it. It's going to be a great New Year's Day when I can organize my junk!

So here's a random fact about me.

I hate to clean up vomit.

This beautiful creature is Sophie. Sophie eats tinsel. And Christmas tree green things. Well, they're not really leaves so I don't know what to call them. Or are they leaves? But she doesn't really care what they are called anyway, just as long as she gets her tasty treat. But then she vomits it up all over the house.

Then there is this guy.

Well, you are not getting a picture because I apparently don't have one on the computer at the time. His name is Rory. I know Rory is a girls name. But my daughter is convinced Rory is a girl. So his name is Rory, got it? And we'll take Rory to the vet and have a little corrective surgery then Rory won't care if it's a girl or a boy, right?

And this guy's problem is he knocks things down.

So all this to say, I didn't put up my big tree. I have one of those skinny trees near the front door with white lights and cranberry beads. But I had to have a place to put presents. I chose the hearth for the gifts from the kids to each other and this dresser in the living room for the really expensive, don't want to get crushed gifts. And finally, here is where the twigs come in.

Hanging from the tree are vintage Christmas images I got from here. www.vintageimagemadness.com. I think I'm going to keep the tree on this dresser for a while because I can't hang things up and I need something tall here. I have rock walls a lot of places and that makes for lovely decorating challenges.

I have one more thing I want to share with you. Reagan is turning into her mommy. She wanted a snack and chose rice. We eat a lot of rice. But I digress. She couldn't just eat regular rice, right? So she molded the rice. She found a Tylenol measuring cup and molded the rice to make a nice presentation on her Strawberry Shortcake plate.

Between the peppermint bark, the chocolate covered peppermint and this rice dish, she's now convinced she's ready for her own Food Network tv show. Bon Appetit!

Choking on Paint Fumes

I thought it was time to post a random thing here so you wouldn't think I'd fallen off the face of the earth. I've been so busy making lots of pretties but I can't post them here just yet because duh... some of you are getting them for Christmas! I will show you what I'm out doing today though. Spray painting.

I'll show you later why the heck I'm spray painting twigs. I'm sure you're wondering. Well, I show you if it works out.

Mason jar lids. And a boy scout popcorn tin. The tin is for my laundry detergent. I think it would be cute to keep detergent in a pretty tin with a pretty label. Have I ever mentioned how into labels I am?

And let me just say, it's cold out there! I am very dedicated to my craft and the ones I love.

So here is what I usually do. I grab ol' faithful cheapy brand spray paint.

But today I needed this pretty blue. So I had to plunk down an extra dollar fifty for this.

I'm never going back. Even if it's just for white or black. I just don't miss my finger cramping like you'd think I would! This stuff is awesome.

Ok, warm break time is over so I'm going back out there. I'll post more projects soon.

Baby, It's Cold Outside (or what to do when it's too cold for P.E.)

The skys are a scary gray, the temperature is dropping and the wind is whipping like crazy. So what's a homeschool mom to do about P.E.?

The Hustle!

We decided to learn a new dance every day. Today was The Hustle. We'll hit The Electric Slide, Thriller, Soldja Boy.... whatever comes to mind!

Here is some of the fun. And yes, I did participate and it was a great workout but I had to stop to get some fun pictures.

The Travolta!

You can see from the pictures that someone is too cool for school. No matter. We'll get her involved yet!

Mim's Scrapbook Spot

If you live in the Fort Smith/Van Buren area and haven't ventured to Terry's new scrapbook store you should. She has the most awesome selection of Christmas paper. Here's a tempting peek...

She's got her Christmas decorations up.

My FAVORITE company right now -- Cosmo Cricket.

But Kaiser Craft is coming in a close second. Have you heard of them? I've been decorating their awesome little chipboard albums for the store. It's my new addiction. I've been having the bestest time!

So go. Soon. Tuesday through Friday 10:30 to 6:30 and Saturdays from 10:00 to 5:00. Downtown Van Buren. I'd look up the address for you but it's 2:45 am and I'm getting a little bleary eyed.

Weight Watcher Monday

I've gone back to Weight Watchers.

My awesome friend Vicki is going with me now so I have her to encourage me. And it's a good thing because today before the meeting I decided I like cake more than self control. If she hadn't been there, there is no telling how much cake I would have devoured.

The last time I did WW, I did so good it's baffling to me that I ever let myself quit. So I have an accountability partner in Vicki and I've decided that every Monday I'll blog about my meeting so I have more accountability in that. All two of you who read this will keep me focused!!

I was feeling really good about my decision to start again until I had a ghastly epiphany.

I have to give up Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Chocolates.
